Bro I've done enough shit to get on watchlists that this is the least of my worries. We're probably all on one anyways at this point.
Use a VPN or tor? Welcome to a watchlist.
Don't have a traditional social? Watchlist.
Use SimpleX or Threema? You guessed it.
Are you a prepper?
Do you display the Gadsen Flag?
Do you identify as a constitutionalist?
Don't believe in COVID or vaxxes?
Go to church?
Then the whole fact that you basically can't delete anything, and nothing gets forgotten...
Ex-racist?
Ex-con?
Made a political joke 10 years ago?
Got a misdemeanor for hugging a tree and stopping a logging crew?
Pissed on a tree because you couldn't hold it?
The lines are blurring, and Google never forgets. It's worse than what your government knows - you can't hide your past from your neighbors anymore. You can't change, repent, be taken for the new person. You can't hide a out of fashion tweet when your government starts looking for dissidents....
Knowing what I can find on people with a very little Google-foo and common sense, I'm just as worried about my neighbors these days.
Jesus man , I'm fearful after reading that , and isn't it only the truth?!
I really believe the fear is being exploited by certain parties (both governmental and non) to control narratives and silence dissent.
This is why anonymity is so important to true free speech. During the period dialog is still alive, but not without risk, it is essential. It’s the only way to get your message out, potentially change a few minds, and find your tribe.
Because when that fails, violence eventually follows.

Came a long way from caring for our neighbors. Mine don’t seem to want to be bothered or neighborly ever anymore.
I’ve noticed the same. We don’t even know ours.

We’re all on one list or another. Have a drivers liscense? Your in a list. Have a heart beat, you’re in a list.
Just be a good person and let that be enough. We can’t stop people from making lists. What other people say about about you behind your back is none of your business.
Reduce your attack surface and trust in yourself to make the right decisions to put yourself in the place where you want to be.
