The protocole Bitcoin has no plural and is always with large cap. The currency, bitcoin, as BTC, has a plural like in: "I use to hold hundred of bitcoins but they were stolen by Core devs."

As a book editor, I find myself cringing when people say bitcoins. I think no s on either, but I do appreciate the distinction of protocol and coin.
