i run a nostr relay over tor and vpn on a decade old ThinkPadT420 8GB Ram i5, SSD, that has a broken keyboard. very easy and cheap. That relay is part of a larger package called MyNode which runs a Bitcoin Node, LN Node, Nostr relay and many other things all in one easy click (or maybe 12).
i5 is newer than my machines. I live in a poor country at country side ;) Imagine living in Cuba, an i5 is a power machine.
KEyboard costs $5.... your i5 at least $400 in my town, is this cheap for you?
for me cheap is $0 recycled from friends.
