I really like the way the knots releases are named here.

My preferred style is YYYYMMDD, its always easier to pick up the version in one glance.

Once upon a time someone tried to force me to name releases with a fancy obfuscated numerical string that you had to look up in a db to find the actual date of a release, just for "regulatory" and "let's add complexity purposes". I exited in 5 seconds. No thanks!
