Agreed, hugely impressive.
But why can’t humans solve cruelty, misery, hatred, conflict, loneliness. Why do we not turn our attention to these issues?

This is exactly it. SpaceX has made more progress in orbital launch technology in 15 years or so than NASA has since the 60s. I want that to succeed, because I think it's good for humans to be able to explore space.

It isn't obvious. Do something about those pressing concerns yourself. Now. Don't whinge about others not doing what you want them to do. Be the change and all that jazz.

No. You take care of the pressing concerns that you are pointing out in the world. Now. Before you go after anyone else for doing what they want.

All part of the plan, imo. Grant SpaceX funding, have SpaceX complete the tasks for them, enter semi-large scale production, and get the "elites" off earth.

I don't either. I'm just saying that that's what I believe are their intentions. Keep in mind that humanity has always been notoriously terrible at predicting the future.
Only some of us. The easiest way to predict the future is to build it for yourself.
Which is what the old, gross bloodlines have been doing since the dawn of time.
The elites wouldn't gain much by getting off of earth. They'd still have to bring all their resources in form earth, resupply on the regular, and they'd all have to WORK just to keep their colony or whatever from running out of water and oxygen. That ain't some elitist beachside tax haven, I'll say that.
