Yeah it’s like a subreddit for bitcoin but you vote with satoshis (1 bitcoin = 100 million satoshis). The devs talked about adding other topics as well a while ago but it’s mostly bitcoin related for now.

Stacker.news is great. And they recently added NIP-05 support, which is pretty damn cool.

stacker.news is slept on too much, such a great forum

Yep, I check it daily. I don't use twatter or reddit anymore.

@k00b does a great job running stacker.news!

Yeah, k00b is awesome!

Yes. I read stacker.news every day. 👍

steven@stacker.news is happy you said this. Gonna have to check that out later

I’m down to support the cause but still wrapping my head around paying to upvote. I really liked the lightning login option. Is the idea that you are funding good ideas/projects? And if you generate your own it’ll come around to you?

Yeah when you come from Reddit or similar services, an “upvote” with actual economic value seems weird at first. Some people in the bitcoin space like to call it value4value, i.e. there is economic returns on good content that other value. For me, an “upvote” (or tip) on stacker.news mean a hell of alot more than a simple upvote on reddit. If I post good content, I don’t get some weird reddit award(?) or reddit coin that I can’t use anywhere else. I can send the satoshis I earn to my own bitcoin node, I can pay for VPN services, etc.

You also have the same dynamic on Fountain which is a podcasting app where you “stream” x amount of satoshis per minute to the podcast. The money goes directly to the podcast host and they can even choose to split the returns so that when you listen, one satoshi goes to the podcast host’s node and one satoshi goes to the guest’s node. Some podcasts even stream sats to you for listening to their podcast.
