Japan is unique. As a country it was isolated for hundreds of years and developed its own culture independently of the rest of the world.
My father did business with Japan in the 1970's, eventually floating his company with his Japanese trading partner Densitron in the UK in 1986.
My Dad adopted Densitron for the floated company name to honour his Japanese partner (very important in Japanese culture). He also made his Japanese partner Degawa San President, the most senior title in Japan.
San is the equivalent of "Mr", but actually means honourable. This is why you call other people San, but not yourself. Also, the symbol for San is very similar to 3, so was used in communications.
My Dads Japanese name was Katashiro San, shortened to KS3. Because it is a surname, so I use the same name in Japan.
Densitron translates to "Land of the rising electron", which is a play on the name for Japan, which is "Land of the rising Sun", and forms part of the Japanese flag.
You can see my Dad honoured in Densitron Japans website here:

My father died in June last year from Alzheimers at the age of 89.
I miss him.
