Make zaps the standard.
No likes, only zaps.
If you like something, it gave you value.
The more value, the bigger the zap.
Simple.

I kinda disagree on that. A "like" can be a nod, or a thumbs up, or a "I've read this / seen this", etc.
There's a reason why Slack and GitHub comments have emoji reactions, and it's not to feed the algo (they don't have an algo).
Views / Likes / Zaps are distinct and different, and for good reason. I have more to say about this soon, but I'll have to leave it at that for now.
Likes are a shitcoin. They can be printed out of thin air. Only zaps have value ;)
In the case of reposts a like is usually more fitting. Also we can't leave all the emoji in the dust.
Emojis are fair enough. Are there clients that let you reply with emojis like with likes?
Yeah on amethyst, you can pick your favorite emoji and put them in a list (or just have one). If you only have one it's a one click default, so I picked the melty face. If you have more than one in your list when you press the like button it opens a select view.
I'm not having much luck with snort or iris to be honest, so im primarily on amethyst and im getting in the habit of tapping like and zap at the same time to achieve both.
I noticed on another client that it's only the heart as an option. I guess it all depends. I don't understand why notes that I posted on snort don't show up in amethyst.
Okay. I’m using primal and Damus on iOS. There is only the heart in primal. And on Damus it’s a hang loose 🤙 emoji. But i can’t see when others use other emojis
So make a "Like" = 1 sat zap at the client level. I get what you're saying, that we pay for the value we receive, and any/all positive reactions should be a reward, a "thank you" for good content that we appreciated. It would reward the good content, and it would also force us to really consider each note and comment/reply carefully to make sure that we actually do appreciate it, because hitting the like/heart will push that sat if we really do.
