According to Derek I'm this thread yes. Clonezilla uses dd internally, so it should do the trick. I have used it hundreds of times, clonezilla is great. I use it after I have my system set up how I like for a possible reinstall later if needed π
Hopefully I can use a macOS variant of Clonezille because I donβt have a windows machine capable of doing this. Maybe I can use my raspberry pi
Clonezilla boots from a USB drive. You boot the machine from your USB. It will save the drive image to another external USB. Then you can use them to restore on the other drive.

This is a pretty thorough how to. You will need to use Etcher on Mac to create the drive, but that's simple.
