I'm at PorcFest in the White Mountains of NH. My 6th time here, but first time in 10 years. Great to be back to the place where I fed everyone with bacon weave sandwiches 4 years in a row, my love of Bitcoin blossomed, and where I first met my wife IRL. 🧡

For those who don't know, PorcFest is a week long festival run by the Free State Project. The FSP is an organization that wants to move like-minded, freedom oriented people to New Hampshire. It's been quite successful, as NH is typically the #1 freest state in the US, according to The Cato Institute.

That said, there is a lot of Bitcoin FUD here.

It's amazing how great of a job technically illiterate shitcoiners have done with spreading false information.

I support competing currencies. People should have the freedom to decide, and plenty of vendors here are open to options. Lots of monero, gold, silver, bcash, dash, etc. I've enjoyed using silver dimes and quarters to pay for things. Great to get rid of them! 😂

The "Roger FUD" has made it very difficult for folks who aren't as technically savvy. I say that as someone who isn't as technical, but took a lot of time to try to understand all sides during the blocksize war.

People made the move for more freedom in their lifetimes. I hope more folks challenge the negative things they've heard about BTC. Folks who store their wealth in silver or bcash should question why their purchasing power continues to decline. Why it can't even keep up with inflation.

More purchasing power = more time = freedom ✌️

I'm still extremy bullish on NH. Plenty of hardcore bitcoiners here, but the FUD is present.

Wish I was there w/ya

Roger Verr is one of the world's all time greatest grifters.

Yup

I've always wanted to go to PorkFest.

Now I really want to go, but instead of argue with libertarian b-cashers, it would be fun to set up a lightning jukebox and show them how fast the lightning network is.

The amount of ignorance around lightning is staggering.

I know. I donated bitcoin to Gary Johnson in 2016. I don't vote anymore, but a couple years ago, I asked my local libertarian canidate if I could set up lightning donations on their website.

Looking forward to some meetups when we relocate in July to NH from TX.

I've always wanted to go to Porcfest. Of the vendors that accepted a variety of payments, would most accept bitcoin there? Were there a lot of vendors that would accept many payment methods but would not accept bitcoin? I've been curious how bitcoin is viewed by the vendors there.

BTC is not popular there, and no one I saw accepted lightning payments. Lots of bcash, monero, and the NH Goldback.

Silver dimes worked, and that's what I used. They've always been my favorite way to buy things at PF.

I'm not shocked by that. FTL runs ads for Dash and I think a lot of folks went with Bcash after the split.

I'll probably take shit on Nostr for this, but I do like goldbacks and silver, but it is a bummer that there was no lightning use there. I have my issues with lightning, but when it works, it works great. I'll keep that in mind if/when I get to go someday.

Don't get me wrong, goldbacks are beautiful. But they cost nearly twice their melt value. They're very convoluted.

Just use silver dimes and quarters, like we were doing at PFs 10+ years ago. 😂

That's definitely one of their drawbacks. People seem to dismiss that criticism and say it doesn't reflect the spot price because its the value of usable gold, but I dunno about that one, seems like a stretch.

The thing I like about them is, so far anyways, its probably hard to counterfeit them. If you hand me a silver coin or a goldback, I'm much more confident in my ability to look at the goldback and know its real. That's probably due to my inexperience with silver coins for what its worth.

You can hear a silver dime fall to the floor from across the room and know what it is!

Bitcoiners "The market is always right"

Also Bitcoiners "Yo the market isn't right"

So NH is the shitcoin capital of the US.

Move out everyone.

Sounds like the free state project is a massive LARP if they don't embrace bitcoin

Not at all. It's the #1 freest state in the country, according to the Cato Institute. The actions of a few don't represent everybody. There are plenty of bitcoiners in the FSP.

I have no issue with competing currencies. The market will decide on what's best, and right now Bitcoin is miles ahead. If some people in NH want to voluntarily use other payment methods then go for it. They'll respect your right to do the same.

I've said this a million times in the past and I'll say it again - I'd much rather be around ancap shitcoiners than statist bitcoiners.

Statists bitcoiners is a oxymoron.

Ancap shitcoiners is a oxymoron

Shitcoiners just hope their ponzi pumps once last time so they can recover.

Texas is the land of the free. No income tax.

I agree that the market can decide but its still dishonest to peddle ponzi scheme and frauds. I don't like these shitcoin scammers. They are NPCs too

NH doesn't have income tax either. 😂

I love Texas a lot but it's only #17:

NH & FL are first and second, respectively.
