When using a VPN do you normally connect to servers in your home country or outside your home country?
Discussion
Usually I do due to performance reasons.
VPNs usually doesn't provide anonymity at the level of Tor, so no point to reduce speed.
Depends if the content I'm accessing is available and/or legal in my home country 😂
Local for fast stuff, overseas for getting around geoblocks etc
I supposed that depends on where I am, but generally speaking I connect to servers in other countries but within the same continent.
Occasionally, if servers are overwhelmed, I'll look elsewhere.
So for example, if I'm visiting Spain, I'll connect to servers in Germany or Czechia. Or if I'm in Taiwan, I'll connect to ones in Japan.
I realize that a VPN doesn't provide anonymity, but it does offer one small degree of #privacy. Hopping to another country also offers one more step of separation between me and my data, allowing for slightly better #security.
