So sad

Sad what removing the gold standard truly did, also the industrialization of farming 😕

😂

I looked it up. High fructose corn syrup became more prevalent

Came here to say this 💜

wow

Fiat everywhere you look, on the other hand btc is much harder than gold and silver, a bit lighter to "transport" and harder to corrupt. Imagine its potential, it's so beautiful.

Got off the gold standard. Government didn't want riots. Pitched cheaper shittier foods for the american diet. Now here we are. Fiat standard = slow death

Kinda ties in with the advent of the computer and gaming consoles and more sedentry lifestyles…

This was addressed in Hubermans podcast with Robert Lustig about 2:13:00 I.

A lot of the answers here are right but incomplete...

1971 affected the whole world

Cheap shit food became prevalent across the whole world

It was bad for all, yet only americans got morbidly obese

There is something else at play

USA has the World Reserve Currency. So USA printed $ (no work/energy) and bought trillions of products/services (real work/energy) from the world. ANYONE that pushed back was eliminated (CIA operates out of 800 bases in 70 countries).

So what is at play is the US Citizens sit around doing nothing (60% of jobs provide no value - desk jobs) and people sat around, eating industrial sludge sold as food.

The rest of the world had to work to make money.

Great book, "Hidden Repression" by Alex Gladstein.

I would also say it is due to heavy blue light usage, low sunlight exposure, and less general movement

Food taste good fam wym

Chicken fried in crisco

Olean

Diminishing returns tho.

High-fructose corn syrup... Released in early 70s... By the Clinton Corn Processing Company

nixon went crazy on global US hegemony and industry

a lot of the weight came from ancel keys convincing everyone that fat was the cause of heart disease.

this kicked off the low fat craze (which meant using lots of garbage to make food more tasty without fat content) and the food pyramid telling people to eat, mostly grains and simple carbs.

bread and simple carbs spike blood sugar almost as much as candy.

the result is not just fatter Americans , but an explosion of diabetes.

then just add into the mix the gov using the fiat printer to subsidise other things like soy garbage and violá
