You wanna know why this story emphasises that "wild polio" has been eradicated in Africa? Because vaccine induced polio still exists. Better sanitation is required to truly eradicate polio.

• Historical lifespans are low because of babies dying during infancy, men in war, and women in childbirth.
• Increases in average lifespan are due to improvements in obstetrics and neonatal care, the professionalization of the military, not vaccines.
