Heard about people’s struggles on Damus’ limited options on translation providers and translation quality. I will be adding Google’s ML Kit for offline translations (doesn’t seem to require sign up, so no KYC or capped quotas) and ChatGPT.

Can you add Microsoft translation?

Would you mind describing why you would use Microsoft’s over other translation services? I haven’t used it much so I would like to learn more. I value giving users choice, but also don’t want to add too much bloat to Damus code, which makes it harder to maintain.

No

Nice! Now we are talking! Offline translations are worse in quality, but way better for privacy and security.

Thanks for implementing Google ML Kit on Amethyst and paving the path there.

Hi Terry.

I use Microsoft & Google translation. Google translation is much better in Turkish- English or English- Turkishh.

I use chatGPT too.

I'm doing research in English. Chrome automatically translates to Turkish.

I use Microsoft translate in MS 365)/ Word. It is not perfect.

My English is not good. But I can understand the bad translation.

And I don't know how the implement them. My technical knowledge is worse than English :)

Thanks for letting me know! This feedback helps inform me about how to proceed with supporting more translation services.
