It dominates 40 hours of my life every single week
I bet you're actually talking about the Talmudic slave system and not an economic system at all.
Im talking about the wage slave system, where the chosen Epstein few who control production with the types and amount of available employment require 40 hours of life force a week from wage slaves like me. They accumulate wealth off the value that my labor adds to their capital (tools, factories, wealth, etc that most of time they were born into) while refusing to raise wages to keep up with the pace of inflation they are causing. They then hijack the state to outlaw running my own business out of my house to accumulate my own capital and put all of these barriers up that can only be overcome with more capital. Wage slaves don’t have capital to buy separate hyper inflated commercially zoned properties for local business ideas, at least not in my country. Capitalism is an economic system designed to keep wage slaves like me poor forever.

I'm not defending anything. I'm simply saying you should be aware of what your true enemy is and calling it your 40hr work week is shortsighted. Your wage slavery is being controlled by a group of people that get their orders from the Talmud.
Yall want to attribute all the great things in society to capitalism but deflect all the bad things it causes for the vast majority of us wage slaves to something nobody ever heard of…like make it make sense and stop defending these criminals
