I used to recommend Trezor for starters, but in the past few years I switched to CC. I keep extras around to give away and will walk friends & family through the setup.

It's really not that hard to understand.

Question, why do you think Trezor is no longer a right fit noobs. Interested in your opinion here. And for non noobs what would you recommend?

I think Trezor is fine overall. I just prefer CC.

i managed to get most of my orange pilled prospects into trezor, wondering if I may need to change that.

Same feelings on Ledger? CC preferable due simply to being Bitcoin only, or something else? All 3 are HD.

Ledger is closed source and panders to NFT degens.

I also love Trezor’s decision to release bitcoin only firmware.

I bought both Ledger and Trezor. Ledger bricked, was constantly asking for damn upgrades,.. on top of that,.. its a shitcoin oriented product.

That’s awful. Haven’t had issues w a Nano S I’ve been using since 2017. I certainly can understand the hesitation w the plethora of shit coins they cater to, but the tech has kept my Bitcoin secure without issue.

Trezor has bitcoin only firmware. Smaller footprint, safer upgrades. https://trezor.io/learn/a/bitcoin-only-firmware-on-trezor

I recommend Trezor still because with onboarding, I think UX/UI is absolutely key, and imo, Trezor wins there. This mainly lies within the wallet software you’re using more than the device I think, and so I recommend Trezor and Trezor Suite to start. I prefer CC as well but I like planting the seed with Trezor and seeing where that goes. I’ve had several friends who have contacted me later asking me about secure elements, if it’s open source, can I use this with other wallets, etc. all by their own research. Do I attribute that to Trezor? Not necessarily. But with apprehensive people who think it’s too confusing (i.e. a bunch of scary numbers and letters on a seemingly outdated looking interface that is Electrum or Sparrow), Trezor is kinda their “Ok, fine” moment.

But you’re very right, it isn’t that hard to understand, and CC does a great job at that with their device itself, but there is an intimidation factor I think.

Also, this sounds argumentative and I am not meaning that at all. Just love HWW conversations lol.

This was my path to sparrow and cc.
