It works! Had to manual enable Notification in Android Settings -> Notifications -> Apps -> Amethyst.

Amethyst 0.45.0 (alpha): Push Notifications (DMs and Zaps)
Push Notifications are available only for those using the Play Edition below due to the use of Google Services to deliver the push message.

I did not have to enable them after the install on a Samsung Galaxy, but this is good to check if you don't see the notifications after the update.
