#asknostr can you recommend kids games for android that are not scamware? Open source that I can install directly from the repo preferred.

Might want to check out F-Droid, it has open source games on there.
There was this one game I got from F-droid called Xeonjia that I played for a bit that is an RPG-based puzzle game.
What kinds of kid's games are you looking for?
Ball2Box
Install on graphene and block network access. I rarely ever 'game' but the rare puzzle app I engage with is a considerably better UX when network access is blocking ads.
Get 'em playing Go (aka weiqi or baduk). Idk about open source but there's a good few clients on the Play Store -- BadukPop is probably the most feature rich free one I've found.
Board games in general tend to be less prone to scamminess, though of course aren't completely immune.
Beyond that, maybe grab an emulator for 'em and some old roms. Some games don't fare so well without real buttons (which you can get controllers for) but games like Pokemon where it's not about reaction time work just fine on a touch screen interface.
