#asknostr does anyone know of an open source local music player? I want to move away from spotify and Id like to be able to download my music and manage it locally all from the `/home/Music` directory, I don't want any database or any custom ways of storing metadata

VLC is the goat

vls is the cornerstone of any good linux setup, but I need something more, something to manage the mp3s

I keep falling back to the basics: file system and a good ID3 tagger (kid3 is neat). This way, any player that doesn't start moving files around is the goat, and VLC is the goatest

Cmus is what I like to use on my computer. Super simple and light weight

on console - good old MPD + client

I use Gnome Music[1], used to use Amberol[2]

What sort of features are you looking for?

Rythmbox doesn't do what you need?

oh yeah, forgot about Rythmbox. Ill give that a try

I recently started using DeaDBeeF because of a small interface i’m waiting to get that can send track marks and titles to my MiniDisc through the Remote port and requires this player, it turns out it is a good piece of software with a customizable interface and plugins you can add for increasing features.
