Hey! What gmsr radio would you recommend for someone new to radios and is getting into preparedness?

No question for me: Baofeng UV5-R
(Others very much disagree as it's "older tech" but it's a radio, and they're very cheap - typically two for $25 or so on sale). Easily programmed with CHIRP software...
Midland makes some good handhelds that come in a set for a decent price. Baofeng makes a uv-5r variant specifically for GMRS.
