馃毃Excuse me鈦夛笍 I actually have a #bitcoin -related question鈦夛笍 馃く馃く馃く馃く

What's the best lightning wallet atm? Especially for recommending to new users? Not used Zeus. But all you lot are banging on about it. I've previously recommended Muun for ease of use/UX and it being non-custodial.

Muun hasn't got that lnurl thingum tho.

Phoenix , muun

I've never actually tried phoenix 馃馃

One of my favorites

Wait, ignore. Zeus is not for noobs like me lol, you need your own node. Question still stands tho

Lovely, and it can be a PWA. Does it support lnurl? 馃

Never tried it actually ... you can just ask em though.

nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg

Mutiny will cost you sats to set up a channel , but it's the price you pay for no fuss custodial .

Ah yeah, just seeing this. Probably not suitable for first ln wallet / noob recommendation, but I'm interested :)

Yeah it's hard to satisfy that Venn diagram for sure.

Zeus+alby is very noob friendly imo they have a guide that is pretty well followed couple steps linked below.

https://guides.getalby.com/alby-guides/alby-lightning-account/connect-your-alby-lightning-account-to-other-apps/connect-to-mobile-apps/connect-to-zeus

I do that as well.

Nice, it's probably something I would do. But not sure I would pass this on to a friend with as first intro to lightning馃 tricky one innit lol

Yeah , I gotcha. Probably not.

Its a pretty simple thing to follow and depending on your friendship it being a one time setup you can help them thru it imo

For sure, but maybe it's a slightly more advanced thing to set up. As a first intro WoS seems the best option (atm). Something they can do themselves and have it up and running in seconds

wos is the plug and play option

Alby + Zeus is slightly more technical

After that you are trying to describe LN nodes to them 馃槀

I'd have to explain it to myself first lol

You should get on the nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 Mainnet Alpha. You can open channels to your own node running in the app.

I'm a complete n00b to nostr, and I'm using Wallet of Satoshi on Android with Amethyst for nostr itself.

Yes WoS is greay for ease of use.

Although it's not non-custodial, but perfectly fine for nostr and introducing new people to and all that 馃

Breez is also really good!

Zeus currently connects to your node or you can connect to a nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm wallet. But at the moment they are not a wallet like you would think. I do believe there are some changes come if down the pipe that will change that though.

Currently for onboarding nostr:npub1hcwcj72tlyk7thtyc8nq763vwrq5p2avnyeyrrlwxrzuvdl7j3usj4h9rq is probably the best and easiest to use. Just know they are custodial. There鈥檚 also nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg nostr:npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9 nostr:npub1cashappn03s3cl2ljsdntv0v28e2um5lgx4vjctqjt23pcwzjhsqmtdg5l and Phoenix. I hear good things about Mutiny and Phoenix. I like strike and Cashapp for buying Bitcoin for cold storage.

What鈥檚 the primary purpose of this wallet.

Thanks for the detailed answer 馃

I'm mostly thinking of the best all rounder to point someone to, someone with no / v little knowledge. So Zeus doesn't really fit that (atm). Would obviously not want to have a serperate additional explanation of eg WoS being custodial, ideally. But seems like it may be the best option馃馃

If it鈥檚 gonna be primarily as a learning wallet and used for stuff like NOSTR zapping, I鈥檇 go work with Wallet of Satoshi. I think Strike and Cashapp can work with NOSTR as well but just haven鈥檛 ever used them in that way. My Wallet of Satoshi wallet is my play wallet and what goes in gets sent back out. My strike wallets is funds that go to Cold Storage.

I鈥檇 just explain it as this is money that could be lost鈥robably not, but could. So don鈥檛 keep too much in it.

There are plenty of people here there are smarter that I am and willing to help. Always post questions you have and someone will guide you.

I should actually try cashapp, I only fairly recently realised it's available in the UK (unlike strike).

nostr:npub1rjwumr7j6tac08t0qttvc44walt549nc4eyyxjc0phn6yxzj7uzq0accc9 you use cashapp? (I know you're not UK but you're close enough lol). You don't have to say if you don't want obvs lol

I use Revolut , it's the same thing more or less.

MUUN fees get crazy, I鈥檇 stay way from them going forward.

Muun isn't really a lightning wallet , it has simple UX so very user friendly , but uses sub-marine swaps and is very buggy.

Use alby for user friendliness.

Yes I learned this and have ceased to use them. 馃馃徎

Would ideally like to recommend something which is an app but agree Alby is great, especially for nostr. (Ive heard talk of alby making an app, no idea tho). Not really specifically thinking of nostr compatibility, but is also worth thinking about 馃

Tbh I don't know what a sub marine swap even is, but I know people don't like it lol

If you absolutely need self custodial , run your own node on a Raspberry Pi and connect to Zeus over tor.

Or use Mutiny if that sounds like a headache.

I've yet to try mutiny, is it good to go as a recommendation for a complete noob? I'm not going to suggest the rasp pi /node option to someone, it's more like a scenario of a complete beginner introduction. So more plug n play. Tbh I have no idea how to even do that myself lol

Sort of concluding there is not really a complete all rounder (complete noob ease of use, no fuss, plug n play, non-custodial) to recommend maybe? 馃

There is , it's mutiny.

You don't even need an app , runs in browser.

For some reason I thought it was in testing 馃 but yeah I need to investigate mutiny properly before suggesting lol

Hello. Please don't post coomer pics. Thank you.
