There’s a home builder in Japan that does prefab housing. It’s interesting how they managed to position their brand as the premium option.

They prefabricate the entire house in a factory in sections and deliver to a site and assemble in 1-3 days. I think the section framing is steel and they assemble like legos into bigger sections. So for example if you wanted a bathroom that might be 1 section, a small bedroom might be 2.

The houses do look quite nice, but nothing like you’d find in the states. But they do have a certain style to them where you can tell this brand apart if you pay attention.

There are quite few companies that have tried to do it Canada too. It hasn’t seemed to catch on here for primary residences but a few of my friends have used them for cabins/cottages because it was much cheaper to get them onto their land in remote places, vs bringing in supplies for a build, or to find good builders in these places.

One friend is building it in a sea can just outside the city and then will deliver it to his land when done. He’s doing it himself.
