Still super expensive, I think I paid around 350-400 (~€) for a Toshiba 20TB HDD more than a year ago. I have 2 in RAID in my NAS for media storage, in addition to 2x2TB WD Red SSD for apps and documents (including photos, I like to scroll my photos as fast as possible).

What kind of Toshiba HDDs did you get? WD RED Pros are one of the best rated HDDs on the market last time I checked so that might cause them to be a bit more expensive than your Toshiba drives
The MG10 series: https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/toshiba-mg10-series-20-tb-35-cmr-hard-drives-23132349
I know WD Red are the king for NAS but here I use WD Red SSD for the important data and for apps, the Toshiba HD are just for videos, music, games and it's not so solicitated in read and write for this usage. I prefered the better cost here. In the end, whatever the brand and model it's kind of a lottery, WD red might just have more chances to last (my previous HD WD Red lasted more than 10 years, 2 of 3 are still fine in another machine, so never lost my array).
