I’m confused by this. So it’s a custodial solution? If I understand, a mint is a bank that custodies your coins?
Yes, you send them sats over lightning, and they give you ecash tokens of the same value. Goodbye lightning channel liquidity management, and goodbye to 'path not found' failures. (Actually, I'm not clear by what means ecash wallets communicate with mints, but haven't had any network problems yet)
At least these are the two main innovations in my book, even more so than the further enhanced privacy.
