the joke is, there are no outbox clients for ios. so theyll never see my posts unless i tag them
what's an outbox client? is that opposed to an inbox client? anyone able to say in a few senetences?

Outbox allows for greater decentralization of relays, because users don't have to manually pick the same relays the folks they are following are posting to. The client will see the relays each user has stated their notes can be found on (outbox) and request their notes from those relays. Likewise, they will see what relays the user has stated they read from (not necessarily the same relays), and any events tagging that user will be sent there.
Users that are on clients that don't support the outbox model will not see notes from users that only post to relays they are not reading from.
