Another boating accident near me... apparently all are well...

They're dangerous things, boats.

Think about this before you sail with your keys aboard.

Great that everyone is safe!

Did it happen at launch I wonder? Unusual to have an accident so close to shore. Unless she was anchored and the tide went out .

Nice boat, if she was mine I would have kept her from tipping by jumping onto the keel as quick as I could.

He went out of one harbour at slack tide hoping to reach the next before planning the rest of his journey, he got caught out as the tide changed and the winds were against him, eventually driving him to shore. Just hoping the damage isn't too bad...

Must've been a spring tide if it caught him off guard, the change can be dramatic.

If you're destined for the shore in an accident, you're better to 'heave to' and you'll slowly drift towards the shore in a more controlled way, and then take the baseboard and rudder up as shes coming to shore.

Maybe that's what he did, if so, fair play.

If I had to guess, he made a jibe where he should have made a tack.

That's quite a mast for a 20footer.

I wonder what the keel / ballast situation was.

Water not too lumpy.

Water was worse than the photo suggests, there was a heavy wind blowing to shore and the tide turned on the poor sod...lack of local knowledge in a very busy waterway unfortunately

Oof. Not my cup of tea.

Is it too late to take my Sats onboard?
