Okay so as the Aussie here... I can confirm that it is not a policy.

If you don't want the land to catch on fire you clear it, it's more a policy that you should do it. There are a few different ways this then happens.

One is prescribed burn off's to get rid of some of it before summer hits it lower the risk in high fire zones also 😊
