To me, it seems like 90% of the world responds to authority entirely, with no real consideration of economics or reason

We all follow an authority.

Ourselves, Nature, The Universe, Governments, The Almighty, etc.

No matter how you try to escape you are ultimately following some law of something.

Yeah 100%. But to be very specific I thought he meant that my vision on money was dependent on authority when what I wrote was the complete opposite.
