Windows 11 is shit show. Imagine buying a new computer or buying an operating system and having it come with advertisements.

Enshitification everywhere
Doesn't say "ad" or "sponsored" anywhere 😡
I had not used Windows in years. Was helping a family member with a computer problem and could not believe the built in advertisements. Windows is banned in my house.
It's really weird. There's all sorts of spyware and adware now built in.
DJI Phantom Drone software comes with its own free surveillance-ware. It tried to KYC me when I tried to fly too close to an airport restricted zone.
If you pay for anything Microsoft, you are a rube.
In all versions of Windows since 3.11 I've only ever bought it once. That was Windows 7.
Despised windows for years. Left a long time ago and never looked back. I’ve even refused jobs because they required even a little bit of windows.
So now you will be the customer and the product at the same time? Brilliant 😅
linux til the grave
The advertisement does not even seems worth on both customer and manufacturer's end.
Well, 1Password is a good app and more people should use it, so in this specific example I guess it's not that bad...but it's still bad.
Have to disagree there... When it comes to password management, 1Password just doesn't fit the bill. They're source-viewable, but doesn't seem like you can do much with the available pieces of source code. And it's not self-hostable. Not saying everyone would want to, but the option, when it comes to passwords, is quite an important one. Not being open source as a password manager just means I *can't* even trust a third party with such things.
In the opposite end of the spectrum, Bitwarden has all the right ingredients down to reproducible builds.
The only way to get rid of bad tech…is to stop using bad tech.
Been running Linux only in my house for almost 20 years now. My wife and kids have zero issues using it.
We also use DeGoogled phones, and host our own Nextcloud server for syncronizing everything between devices and collaboration with each other.
Develop app for windows is nightmare too
If you have to run it for some reason, using it in a VM and stripping it down might be an option. Although there seems to be significant security issues, Ameliorated would be great if they could get some money behind them.
My email service is constantly trying to force their update on me which puts advertisements in my email. A whole new level of spam.
Hopefully pushes people to Linux. Big props to Steam for making gaming on Linux great. Made it super easy for me.
