Well, the M4 Pro chip is overkill, but I’m considering it because I:

- Work with 3D modeling software, though I only need heavy calculations occasionally

- Do some video editing when I find the time

- Occasionally work outdoors (nano texture display would be handy)

- Want an M-series chip for better battery life

I think an M1 or M2 could handle my needs, but they aren’t much cheaper than a brand-new M4. Should I just spend the extra 1K and get the latest one?

If you have the extra 1k to spare, i would go for the M4. Not only will you have the bit better performance, but don’t also forget the probably longer software support.

If you already had a M2 machine, I wouldn’t upgrade, but if you start with M machines i would just get the newest.
