For impersonation - What if there was a way for others to acknowledge that someone’s profile is the real person, and it showed the number of acknowledgements on their account like it does the followers/following. Just like a little check make to click or something. If an account has a bunch of acknowledgements, people would know it’s the real person.

I am now realizing this is dumb because you would probably have to load the number like you do followers, and at that point you might as well just look at followers

Can get stats on account behavior and score it. Spam vs Bot behavior.

Unfortunately I can imagine some people buying «acknowledgments» ☹️

Yeah but they’d have to buy more acknowledgments than the real person has to convince others that they’re the real one, so for a famous person who would have a lot of acknowledgments, it’d be harder to impersonate them

That’s a good point 👌

At Nos I’m working on a prototype for displaying your top friends based on mutual interactions. It’s not the same, but it aims to produce a similar outcome: by showing who you’re friends with, others can infer some of your reputation on the platform. This of course should be a consensual and optional feature for privacy reasons.

Cool

Isn’t that just shifting the burden to acknowledgements then ?

That’s just as easy to fake
