Here's the Story:

Back in 2017, while in Copenhagen, I ducked inside an old-school Danish restaurant that was packed to the gills to see what’s the hubbub.

At 2 PM on a Wednesday it was like a crossing over into a festival of herring delights.

Piles of Fish, pickles, bowls of lard, crispy pork, baskets of rye bread.

Every table was covered with food and snaps and surrounded by appetites and smiles.

A veritable viking feast with less ax and more dill.

What is this?!

It’s a Danish Christmas lunch.

OK we’re in.

Do you have a reservation?

I’m sorry you will have to try for next year.

oof.

But it helps to know a guy. I called an old-school chef friend who is connected and he was able to get us a table at that spot.

We sat DOWN around 12:30 PM and wobbled out at 5pm - which sounds like a long time until you learn that it’s been paired down from 12 days.

It was one of the most memorable meals of my life and I think of it every year around this time.

I cant find a good Danish Christmas LUNCH anywhere, so I'm going to make one at nostr:npub1key55ax33gkl50uqemvl4khrtqrhzm7wzpc7fhseutt5ddkcwcrqgxlt3h on afternoon of Dec. 8th .

Yes, it is "notes and other stuff transmitted by relay". But my note is a post. I posted it. I have used the term "post" for two decades. I posted it.

This is Nostr. We don't have rules. I'll call them what I want. I called it a post. Fight me.

I continue to call posts on "X" tweets as well. I tweet them. My father called tissues "Kleenex" down to his end days and I plan to do the same for this unless or until it just naturally feels right to do otherwise. Every time someone tells me to change my terminology, I just channel my late father and say, "no". I called it what I called it.

I tweet on X and I post on Nostr.

If it’s true that Jon Stewart was dropped by Apple for his China+AI takes (Apple reportedly wanted Jon to be more “aligned” with their view due to their Chinese economic overlords), I wonder what his next path is.

Retire with his “fuck you” money and maybe do a couple independent projects for fun? Or do a more independent/decentralized show?

I grew up watching Jon’s Daily Show. I don’t agree with all his past or present takes, but I always found him to be the best political jester- the one who could bring complex serious topics to a younger audience with humor. And right or wrong, speaking from his heart and logic rather than fully advertiser-captured or audience-captured.

Curious to see what he does next.
