#Bitcoin is the one chance we have to fix the world. If we take unnecessary risks to tweak the protocol and add fancy features, we’re risking another 1000 years of fiat slavery.

Won't we make money on a fork?
From my (non-tech, pleb) perspective, leaving the protocol alone seems like a very very good idea.
The energy and innovation on layer 2 (and 3?) protocols can hopefully address any improvements we need now and give us tools for difficulties as they arise.
In the short time that I've known about bitcoin, it's become a source of real hope for me. When I hear someone casually mention changing the base layer protocol, I feel queasy.
