Decentralized movies and TV shows?
I'm looking at the list of new and upcoming movies and the majority of those is just an updated version of an older movie or just +1 episode in a franchise.
This makes me think that we are getting to a point where you will essentially pick a story you would like to watch and then separately pick ensemble to play it for you. And perhaps with GenAI this becomes completely obsolete anyway.
"That's a good story, let's watch it with Brad Pitt",
"No, Liam Neeson is better, but then we can do Keira Knightley for the female?"
"Hm, ok, but let's make it end on a positive note"
"We did positive ending last time, it gets boring, let's do mysterious..."
... and this is now surprisingly becoming reality, but is this still enjoyable?
A different direction worth highlighting here would be the model of the Hermitcraft series.
Hermitcraft is interesting in that you can experience the story from each characters (players) perspective. You can watch the whole show from a perspective of a single player, or you pick two, or you mix, etc. The storyline is created as we go, each individual character has their own goals & targets and they happen to interact with each other to reach their goals, they play minigames, have pairwise stories and collaborations. You can follow each person on twitter, watch their other side stories if you want.
In essence, Hermitcraft is a decentralized show.
What do you think?
