A #massive irrigation project is underway in the north of #Afghanistan that will forever change the agriculture of the area.

Queshtepa #Canal is an artificial Canal of 285+ km taking water from the Amu Darya river & passing through three afghan Provinces namely Balkh, faryab & jowzjan. The first phase of this Canal(108 km) is completed at 95% & work on it should soon be finished. This Project with an estimated cost of #$500 million( acc to Previous Govt estimates, #$5 billion was needed)is completely financed through domestic revenue. Zero outsider help is sought in this project which makes it the first of its kind since past 5 decades.
