I see it as an opportunity to orange pill some people that are scared/unsure about bitcoin. With proper onboardings, Nostr will explode and bitcoin too. We are doing our best as Damus team to help our users when they first join as part of a massive redesign.

Yea as long as people are in control of what they see then it’s good. Some will have no interest in bitcoin and some will. Empowering people to find the content they want is the best goal I think, instead of pushing particular content or profiles on them. If orange pilling is a goal for anyone, it only happens when people are exposed to ideas and discussion surrounding bitcoin that inform them and allow them to make up their own minds.

I didn't care about bitcoin when I came here. I joined Nostr because jack and Snowden mentioned it back in February, and I liked the decentralized permissionless aspect of it. Four months later and I'm running a BTC node, starting to dabble in mining some bitcoin myself, and stacking to cold storage. I think right now Nostr is a bitcoin onboarding tool, but it will be much more. We're all so early.

What do you think would entice your normie cousin, aunt, or neighbor’s curiosity to stay should you install a nostr app on their phone today?

Content discovery is bad. Search needs to be better. People hate on "algorithms", when they should hate on "algorithms I don't control". Something is needed to manage a huge amount of notes.

Relay management will scare normal folks

Key management will scare them too. Not being able to easily recover an account is a major downside.

I’m gonna be honest if I can…. Sounds shitty but only reason I came here if for Bitcoin only reason I stay here is for Bitcoin. Never really liked Twitter anyways. So probably wouldn’t care for Nostr if zapping wasn’t a thing either lol.
