Hmmm. Is that high or lower? Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not versed in the WoT score. Amethyst doesn't make it obvious, or at least I don't see it within that client.
Discussion
It all depends. I follow relatively few people, so a score of 19 is relatively higher than for a person who follows thousands of people. For me, a score of 19 means "this person is definitely who they say they are, and they have a certain level of popularity", whereas a person with score of say 3 could be either an impersonator or just someone with few followers.
Interesting! You are a wealth of information! I appreciate it! Thanks for helping me understand this!
No problem! I know a lot about this because I invented this particular algorithm, so YMMV when using clients other than Coracle 😂
Care to share the formula? I know it will be ad-hoc. I haven't coded any WoT yet so it would help me think about it.
Its very simple, it's just the number of people you follow who also follow a given person. I also took mutes into account by subtracting pow(2, log(n)) from the follow score where n is the number of people you follow who mute a given account.
essentially it generates a graph out of all of your follows, and their follows follows, and their follows follows
it walks the graph and computes a weight for each, which technically could be a kind hamming distance, combined with a graph weighting
so to compute each WoT score it must repeatedly walk through each of your follows, check their follows, and search for a given candidate to evaluate
it's not as complicated as it sounds, but it is as complicated as it sounds
it's highly effective and honestly personally apart from irritating problems i have lately due to refusing to use free relays coracle's automated filtering is amazing
You devs amaze me. I have a basic understanding of web coding and I'm just blown away by what you guys do. Much respect friend! 😎😎
