Currently we count users as pubkeys that have some metadata (profile settings) set and follow at least one other pubkey. A fairly low bar atm; I am sure we are catching some bots in there as well. This logic will get more sophisticated in the future.

There's certainly some wash zapping on Nostr. You can do your own zap forensics by going to the Explore section on Primal, then selecting "Zapped" in the Global category. That will give you the most zapped list of all time. Some look legit, some don't.

On the subject of "zap washing" there is someone that posted a picture of how much they zapped from somewhere. And I noticed that they had zapped themselves many times in their profile. Made me really uncomfortable. See him every day on Nostr, always talking about zaps.
