I believe this is up to whichever NIP-05 provider you go with
for example, those with a #nostrplebs or #nostrpurple NIP-05 are granted a shareable link to their public key, or as you say npub, such as:

at some level, such a link would have to be linked to either your npub, or to a NIP-05, since there could be an unlimited number of "Mags" out there
NIP-05's identity verification provides a distinct link, that's shareable across all #nostr clients and not just Primal
I was wondering if by using another service, could pick a shorter link (like an email address) that can direct to the specific npub (like on primal). Makes sense what you say generally, unless one person takes that one and can't have multiples
