It really depends on how you define “artist”.

What makes an artist? If it’s human expression, then couldn’t you argue that the words you type and the adjustments you make are a form of such expression? Not all art requires “skill” but does require an input to conceive it.

I agree that it feels wrong to call yourself an artist if all you do is type 3 words and get a masterful “drawing”. In this case you merely used a tool that did something for you. That then leads to another question: how many words or what other criteria is necessary to say something was expressed in a creative way?

We can also do a fun exercise with this. Imagine in the distant future humans lost the ability to create artistically and all they did was prompt AI. Would you consider those people artists if the output felt artistic and had an impact on people? Or are all artists gone?
