I disagree with pretty much all of this, but still find it fucking hilarious.
No-one should do anything for me out of obligation. I cook for myself, to my own liking.
I should not take a de-escalation attempt as an affront, even if it might have been hurtful to me in the moment, and then lash out from that hurt in harsh criticism of my wife's efforts to provide me with sustenance.
This is my wrong, not hers. If she still thinks industrial lubricants and plant poisons are to be eaten, then obviously I have failed in her instruction as well, but this outburst was no way to teach.
Only you know how you acted, but the idea that your wife doesn't know how to cook to your liking & vice versa isn't ideal.
Obv cooking for yourself is easy, but it goes both ways - we should take each other into account and remember those small things that give us joy on the daily routine things we do.
