What happens in recovery work?
Discussion
Lots of evidence that low intensity steady state helps the body clear out the stress from higher intensity work.
Personally I know 20 to 30 minutes rucking every day I can do far more lifting without running into issues. Longer doesn't help more, over 45 minutes feels like added stress and starts to hurt more. Under 15 doesn't seem to help.
Sleep is really good too lol
True, and doing high intensity only disrupts my sleep. I sleep much better if I do that recovery work after.
I don’t really know what recovery work is but it sounds like an oxymoron. Recovery is just rest. There is no need to do any work. You can’t speed up the recovery process beyond what your genetics allow.
As a younger man I would have agreed. It might even have been true for that younger man. Today I have my tracker data. I know for a fact that for me a 20 to 40 minute ruck after any high intensity work improves my sleep and brings my heart rate and HRV back to normal way faster.
