Setting up the Umbrel Home I got myself for Christmas since my DIY Raspberry Pi node kept killing its firmware SD card. I still find it 'magical' that you can buy a few hundred dollar device & become a sovereign node runner of the greatest monetary network humanity has ever seen.

Ocean is the best. On Umbrel, Instead of âbitcoin coreâ I installed âbitcoin knotsâ and then âdatumâ
This way I can mine and get paid on the lightning network. They arenât many sats⌠but they are sats none the less.
Hm .. was contemplating running knots. Do I need to run a lightning node to take the mining lightning payouts (because I'd prefer to not run a ln node) or can I just payout to my WoS or Phoenix wallet?
I guess that wouldnât work then. Yes, you would need to run core lightning for the lightning payouts.
Really? No lightning node? Does the node require a lot of babysitting?
I know .. I should run one. It's mostly about creating the ln channel. I don't really want to lock up a significant amount of sats in a channel to take my tiny payouts. U know if there are ways to open small channels .. sth like 100k Sats or smaller?
Yes there can be channels less than 100k, but you are right. The payout is small and it might be better to lottery mine.
Yeah, I really enjoyed using Umbrel too. It was one of the smoothest node setups that I had.
Almost done .. Umbrel Home server plowed through the entire blockchain within 1 day. Still mind-breaking that this is possible.
