I did find his comparison of Trump to Gorbachev a little odd (because I don't feel Trump accomplished that much), but then his description of Russia becoming an empire being like becoming Venom was pretty awesome 😄

It’s not a perfect parallel by any means but more meant to signify the inflection point in the empires which Trump’s election was for the US. By far the biggest rebuke of the Cathedral and boy did they not take it well.

It was a rebuke as well as an unexpected upset of systems in place to ensure that Hillary and Biden would win despite hardly campaigning.

Listening further Balaji also likens the U.S. to Communist China and America's warring blue and red tribes to the Hutus and the Tutsis 😂 (or one might add the Bloods and the Crips).

He’s right on the tribal stuff and whilst the Hutu/Tutsi comparison is a bit jarring knowing what went down there, when you take into account only 4% of Dems marrying Republicans and basically refusing to hire them it does show that American politics has gone beyond mere ideas and has become central to people’s worldviews. They are essentially two peoples now, far too divided to be held together under the same banner much longer. I don’t think the 50 States of the USA will make it to 2030.

Also hard to disagree that the Federal Government are emulating a shittier version of Communist China when you take in totality how the State is acting with censorship, partisanship, lying about data etc.

Again tying that back to the Soviets doing a shittier version of capitalism in its last ditch attempt to compete as a superpower - that’s where knowing your history can be super valuable to see where the world is headed. Those that see this stuff are going to be the ones prepared for the opportunities that arise as well as to avoid the worst of the hardships which will be imposed.

This excerpt is a really good example of it.

Like how Hillary supporters tried to brand Pepe as a white nationalist symbol, or when they got Twitter & Reddit to ban the NPC meme, or when they lost the plot on the 👌 sign.

The Blues live in a parallel universe constructed entirely by their elites whom they defer to on everything.
