trend sensed: if you complain about how bad Nostr is, you get 1-3 responses assuring you it's not bad. whereas if you try to post things that people might enjoy, it's dead.

it doesn't seem like you're following/followed by many people, which may be why the experience feels lackluster. I used free relays exclusively for around a month and then dove into a few paid relays. they made the global chat usable to find people I don't follow to maybe connect with. some people use # to connect. (#coffeechain for example).
and if you just don't like or enjoy nostr, that's fine too. it probably isn't ready for the masses yet yaknow. cheers friend 🤙
Have you tried nostr.band to search and add people?
Also I didn’t really use twitter much so Nostr seems pretty active for me so far
