I'm not an advocate for an SBR, I think it's bad for #Bitcoin short to mid term. NGU is nice for Bitcoiners on a short term, but politics as an organizational paradigm needs to die. Bitcoin can make politics irrelevant, but it will take much longer if an SBR does happen.

I've had this same thought.

I trust the states incompetence in how it manages and distributes capital, but it'll take a lot longer to starve if it's also benefitting from NGU.

There's an argument to be made about aligning incentives with the state by them holding BTC rather than being adversarial, but nothing is guaranteed. The government could still try to attack self custody.

Though in the US that seems increasingly unlikely and we are armed 🙂

People are armed, not by guns but with awareness and numbers. A far more formidable weapon than whatever kinetic effect gunpowder has.

Yeahhh. Imo both are necessary, but that could just be my American perspective 😂

It's a compromise either way. I love how safe Amsterdam is, can't say the same for any part of America. But I would love to legally own a gun and tons of ammo. But the compromise is that different conditions exist and a price is paid for something.

I totally understand. Europe currnelty seems much less safe than it was 20 years ago, but I haven't heard of too many attacks in NL.

Some of the safest places in the US are the areas with the least gun control. It makes sense if you tend to see most humans as well meaning rather than malicious.

If I could snap my fingers and make every gun on the planet disappear I might, but there's no putting the cat back in the bag.

wouldn't the US SBR cause a domino effect for other countries to follow? wouldn't that be better for financial independence everywhere?

I do agree It'd be better if the US was last to adopt and more countries like El Salvador could have a better position. but unfortunately, most follow trends instead of setting them.

Have you not noticed any government overreach at all the past years? I'd like to see governments go bankrupt, not fund themselves with Bitcoin.
