If you’re looking for a nokyc email service (=not tied to your identity), nostrplebs is what you’re looking for. It’s a NIP-05 verification service for nostr (like being verified on legacy social media, but way better). You can simply send an email to your nostrplebs address and you will receive it in your nostr DMs.

WHAT

That was my reaction the first time I used it 😂

Not working ... 🥺😕

If it’s the first one you receive it might be in the requests folder

Just sent a test email to myself. It worked

nostr:npub1jdvvva54m8nchh3t708pav99qk24x6rkx2sh0e7jthh0l8efzt7q9y7jlj did you enable the setting on your nostrplebs.com manage page?

Oh no, That must be the problem. I'm going to check it when I get home. Thanks my friend.

I forgot to mention it in my initial note.

My pleasure

Doesn’t seem to be working for me. I’ll keep playing around with it.

That’s weird. Sending an email to your @nostrpurple.com address doesn’t work? You don’t see it in your DMs or requests folder ?

Nope- checked both. I’ll keep fooling with it. I enabled the ability on Nostrplebs. Maybe it takes a bit of time to process??

Maybe. I enabled it months ago

Do I need to do any additional configuration for it to work?

Yes. You need to enable the option on your nostrplebs.com manage page

It working now! Awesome! Thanks a lot 🙏

That’s great! My pleasure

Email is KYC nowadays.

How is the nostrplebs email kyc?

How is your npub tied to your identity?

Please explain

Most email providers nowadays require SMS verification, unless they already have that info from another source, or they require email verification from another email provider that does the SMS verification or another form of KYC.

Of course, this can be worked around, but most people won't do it. They'll just give you their Gmail address, tied to their phone number, tied to their identity.

I understand what you’re saying. I’m specifically referring to nostrplebs email service. It’s tied to your npub, which isn’t tied to your identity. Hence is nokyc.

Oh, nostrplebs is great.

The only problem is how long will it take for the "big players" to release the blacklist mafia on it.

I’d be concerned that could get spammy without a junk filter.

I wonder if Semisol already has one? Under the header there’s a disclaimer that says if you think this is spam, to contact him

Would be nice to have on the user side as well
