Yes. It’s pretty common here in Australia for houses to have solar panels on the roof.

I have a portable chicken coop that rotates around the farm following the chickens. There is a 50W solar panel mounted to run a light to make sure the chickens have about 15 hours of light year-round to keep egg production up. It wouldn't be practical to run extension cords hundreds or thousands of yards to operate.

I'm afraid of solar panels on the roof because of the fire hazard.
