Algos aren't there for the user's, they're there for the platforms. They want your time & attention for as long as they can hold it. They want the ad revenue that comes from the eye balls.

I don't think people want to waste hours arguing with NPCs online but they're addicted to the drama & dopamine. It's kinda like arguing that a crack addict likes stealing from their friends & family because they keep doing it.
