I find it strange sound clips/bytes can't be uploaded directly to Nostr.
Was going to start a song request game and see how many I can remember/play off the top of my head.

Nostr is not one place. Some clients have capabilities built in, and you can link to existing sources such as YT which get rendered fine by most clients.
I can't see where YouTube allows sound clips only.
No video.
